About Us

In 1944, Elmer F. Laydon Sr., along with his wife, Charlotte started Elmer F. Laydon Paving Contractor. Based on Elizabeth St. in New Haven the company focused primarily on residential driveways, sidewalks and commercial parking lots. Elmer F. Laydon Jr. joined the company full time in 1958 and in 1960 the company was incorporated. Elmer Jr. became President of the organization and Elmer Sr. later passed away in 1968.

The company steadily grew over the next 40 years successfully expanding to a more industrial and municipal focus. In 2005 Laydon Industries, LLC was formed as the company was broadening its focus on multiple markets throughout Connecticut later becoming the operational arm of E.F. Laydon Construction Corp. In 2019 the organization celebrated our 75th year in business and operates facilities all over Connecticut.
